Vallromanes is a municipality of Vallès Oriental, at the edge of the Maresme, it is spread across the North-West slopes of the Serra de Sant Mateu (St Mathew's Range), the highest peak being the Puig de Lledó, 493 m high.
The area comprises the headwaters of the Vallromanes seasonal river (which in turn flows into the Mogent seasonal river on the left within the boundaries of Montornès) and is also drained by the Ardenya seasonal river, a tributary of the first mentioned river. It is a mountainous area, largely comprising scrubland with pine and holm oak woods (562 ha).
Vallromanes is 25 kilometres from Barcelona, 9 kms from Masnou and 8 kms from Granollers.
Today, Vallromanes has become a centre for second homes and a place to spend the summer. Housing estates have been created and, in 1987, a campsite with a capacity for 320 people was opened. In the surroundings of the ancient Tavernera Tower, a notable fortified house decorated with ceramics, a Golf Course has been established (Club de Golf Vallromanes). |
